Temporary Dependent Care Support for Faculty and Staff
Wesleyan will reimburse eligible faculty and staff a maximum of $500 for documented and approved dependent care expenses (including care of children in 6th grade or younger, parents, or other dependents) that result directly from new dependent care needs associated with the Pandemic (i.e. adjusted schedules for elementary aged school children) and occur during the employee’s regularly scheduled work hours.
Guidelines and restrictions
- Funds are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served
- All benefit eligible faculty and staff, including visitors, are
- $500 is the maximum amount for reimbursement for the 2020 Fall
- The program covers new dependent care expenses that are incurred during regular work hours and are occurring due to conditions related to the Pandemic. Examples of qualified expenses include:
- Cost of enrolling dependents in day camps, other educational opportunities, or organized child care due to changes in regular school
- Cost of babysitters or senior
- Cost of additional hours in a dependent’s regular day care
- This program will only cover direct payments for dependent
- Dependent care services provided by another family member are not eligible for reimbursement.

Faculty - submit a request by email to Joy Vodak that includes the reason for the dependent care to ensure that the arrangements meet program guidelines and that funds are available.
Staff – submit a request by email to Lisa Brommer that includes the reason for the dependent care to ensure that the arrangements meet the program guidelines and that funds are available.

After the pre-approved care has occurred, faculty and staff should submit a along with a receipt that clearly indicates the dates of service and the amount of the payment. In the case of non-professional child care (e.g., a high school student who is providing babysitting services), a handwritten receipt will suffice, but it must contain the name of the provider, the provider’s contact information, the dates of service, and the amount received in payment.
